Integrating Backer Feedback & Determining the Future of the City of 7 Seraphs

New Map Design!
New Map Design!

Backers! At the end of December we asked you for feedback on the alpha PDF and you did not disappoint! Over the last five weeks we received a flood of awesome insights, observations, and requests for clarifications (and edits). We have been improving 3pp compatibility (with rules systems like Spheres of Power, and Akashic Mysteries), tweaking game mechanics, adding new reference tools, and refining presentation (see above).

Thank you for all the kind words, suggestions, and helpful critique.

Sorting through all of the feedback has been a challenging and labor intensive task but it will make the final book MUCH better. And we are nearly wrapped up with everything that we have got (some as recently as a few days back) but we are hoping to cut off any more feedback soon to wrap up the final edit of the book. We are endeavoring to get an indexed version of the PDF to you shortly. We will use that version to order color print proofs.

We could never have done all this without your amazing support.

But if you are willing, we do still need your help for another kind of feedback!

The Pathfinder RPG's coming edition shift certainly surprised us last year and has us wondering what version or rules system our backers want to see us work in the  most. Should we stay in the Pathfinder 1E/3.5 compatible realm or move on? Switch elsewhere? Concentrate on setting information that is system agnostic? Release in-world fiction? Help us determine the future of the City of 7 Seraphs in new products after the final release. This survey is totally optional and will not impact your rewards if you don't take it. Let us know where you stand here:

Thank you again for everything (especially the patience)!

Update and an ask...

Greetings Backers,

Thank you all for your continued patience. We wanted to take a moment to address mounting backer concerns about delivery. City of 7 Seraphs has been a collaboration of nearly 50 designers, artists, writers, and other creatives. Often times one or another of these individuals has access to the only active developmental copy of the product. Other times, artists waited for turnovers that needed completion before they could illustrate a character or locale. That meant if a single delay of a week or two were to happen, the next in sequence had to wait. If this were to continue from each of these people, it could compounded to months or years of delay. Fortunately, it hasn’t happened to everyone.

But it has happened.

Family illness, hardware crashes, and more have caused isolated periods of delay throughout the entirety of production.

These delays caused people who were waiting on work to have to take new assignments, reducing availability for when their turn in the design sequence came up. If further delays occurred in the period with working files, this only compounded. These sort of hand-offs are the ONLY reason the project is slowed in its delivery.

It has come to our attention that some backers and fans have become excited enough to contact contributors to the project directly. Please refrain from doing this. Most of them only had visibility to a select window of the production process and very few of them are actively engaged on the project as it draws toward its end.

These updates will continue to be the most current information we have to give. The last few weeks we have been hesitant to post a definitive PDF delivery date because each time we have updated since September unforeseen and unrelated issues have collided to extend deadlines. We don’t want to continue to give dates or windows and miss them.

The project passed 500 pages in length and some of the issues have been preserving the enormous body of content while maintaining printing costs at estimates. We will release a proofing copy to backers the moment our current freelancers are done with their assignments. Yes, they are running late, but only a little after waiting patiently for their turn to work on this project.

We understand on a broad view the delays are upsetting. They are upsetting to us too. Please continue to hang on. We want nothing more to get this incredible product to you. Watch this space for news soon.
